Exeter and the Heart of Devon Economic Development Strategy

Mewstones is completing an update of the draft Strategy produced in 2008 in order to reflect the changed economic circumstances and evidence base.  It reviews previous and current economic performance for each of the four local authorities in the sub-region (Exeter City, East Devon, Mid-Devon and Teignbridge) and identifies actions for change.

Teignmouth Vision

Mewstones worked with urban design firm LHC on behalf of Teignbridge District Council, to develop a masterplan for regeneration work, writing the strategic context and socio-economic baseline.

Sea Change Large Grant Application

Mewstones provided support to Torbay Development Agency in their successful investment bid for Sea Change funds (£2.2 million).  This included making the economic development case for the investment to CABE and SWRDA.

Redevelopment of Carlton Theatre

Mewstones completed a feasibility study for Teignbridge District Council to inform the business case for this proposed development, working with a wide range of partners including the district council, the local community and architects.

Creative Torbay - Space Invaders

Mewstones project managed this arts and economic development initiative on behalf of Torbay Council Cultural Services Department. This award-winning commission established an exhibition and retail gallery featuring the work of local artists in Torbay shops which would otherwise have remained empty over the summer season.

Torbay Innovation Centres

On behalf of Torbay Development Agency, Mewstones prepared bids to Business Link to deliver enterprise support through its Torbay and South Devon Innovation Centres.

T.R.A.I.L. Business Plan

Mewstones prepared the business plan to support the long-term development and funding strategy for this artist led organisation which delivers an annual sculpture trail along the coast between Dawlish Warren and Shaldon together with indoor exhibitions and workshops.
